About Us

Trevor Bringans Ltd. commenced operations in 1975.

Our business intention was to bring into the homes of New Zealanders a wide range of product, sourced from overseas and not regularly distributed by other larger New Zealand wholesalers.

1975 was still a time of change in New Zealand as the regime of Import Licensing generally controlled the type and quality of imported product available in New Zealand. Thus our desire to go outside the circle and source product items that New Zealanders demanded but couldn't get a hold of, was the prime motivation to our enterprise.

In subsequent years as we moved from our core items of woodware and general merchandise products to plastic kitset models, radio control products and accessories, craft and hobby products, New Zealand moved away from import licensing and into an era of less restriction. Sure the likes of parallel importing have affected the quality of some imports, but in general terms, New Zealanders are on an equal footing with the rest of the world in regards the quality and variety of product they have access to.

Trevor Bringans Ltd. stocks the likes of such plastic kitset brands as Tamiya, Italeri, Hasegawa and Bandai Gundam; Radio Control products for R/C car racers such as Tamiya, Futaba, Acoms and O.S Engines; Products for R/C flyers eg. Great Planes, Top Flite, Hobbico, Aeroflyte, Midwest, Futaba, OS Engines, Du-Bro, Sullivan, Texson/CSP, Solarfilm, Oracover, Master Aircrew and Hotstuff CA. We also stock a broad range of craft products like K&S Metals, Plastruct, Evergreen styrene, Midwest woods for use by model railroaders, architects, miniature model builders, dolls house enthusiasts and hobbyists who like to have a tinker. There are some craft products like balsa-wood and Proedge knives that particularly suit the requirements of doing school projects as there are also a select range of kits to suit the avid ship modeller eg. Billing Boats or Mamoli Wooden Ships.

All the product listed can be found on the shelves of your local hobby or toy store. And if there is something you desperately need and your retailer does not have the product on the shelf, we will endeavour to get the product (if we have it in stock) to him/her either the next working day (if you live in the North Island) or within two/three working days if you live in the South Island.
